Root Rot

Root rot is a disease caused by various pathogens such as Pythium, Fusarium and Phytophthora. It can gradually weaken the function of absorbing water and nutrients, and finally, the whole plant dies, mainly showing yellowing and withering of the whole plant leaves.

Symptoms:

It mainly harms seedlings and can also cause disease in adult stage. At the initial stage of the disease, only a few branch roots and fibrous roots were infected and gradually extended to the main root. After the main root was infected, the early plants did not show symptoms. Later, with the aggravation of the root decay, the function of absorbing water and nutrients gradually weakened. Because the nutrient supply was in short supply, the new leaves first turned yellow. When the light was strong around noon and the evaporation was large, the upper leaves of the plant wilted, but they could recover at night. When the disease is serious, the wilting condition cannot be recovered at night, and the whole plant leaves turn yellow and wither. At this time, the root bark turned brown and separated from the pith, and finally, the whole plant died.

Occurrence regularity:

The pathogens overwinter in the soil or on the diseased remains and become the main source of initial infection in the next year. The germs invade from the roots or root wounds and spread through rain or irrigation water.
