CHICO “CALIBUR® + X” Comprehensive Disease Management Solutions to Boost Tomato Growers' Profits

Dec.15.2025
Table of Content [Hide]

As one of the most economically significant vegetable crops globally cultivated, tomato has an extensive cultivation distribution covering over 170 countries and regions across five continents.

However, throughout its entire growth cycle—from seed germination to fruit harvest—tomato is susceptible to various pathogens, including fungi, bacteria, nematode, and virus, which causes numerous common diseases, such as early blight, late blight, leaf mold, gray mold, bacterial leaf spot, root-knot nematode disease, bacterial wilt, canker, and viral diseases. These diseases spread rapidly and lead to extensive damage. In severe cases, they can result in yield losses exceeding 75% or even total crop failure, representing a major obstacle that constrains the sustainable and high-quality development of the tomato industry.

Unique Advantages and Mode of Action of CALIBUR®

Leveraging years of technical expertise in crop protection, CHICO CROP addresses key challenges in tomato disease control by offering a customized "CALIBUR®+X" comprehensive disease management solution. This integrated solution acts from seed stage to seedling, transplanting, establishment phase, and initial disease outbreak, with the goal of reducing disease severity. It offers tomato growers a new, professional, efficient, and safe approach to disease prevention and control.

CALIBUR® is an thiazole-based organic copper fungicide that is highly effective against bacterial diseases in crops and also efficient against fungal diseases caused by Deuteromycotina. It has excellent systemic properties, being rapidly absorbed by the roots, stems, and leaves of tomato plants after application and translocated bidirectionally throughout the plant to achieve both protective and curative effects. Furthermore, it is compatible with most pesticides and fertilizers, and various application methods, including seed soaking, seed coating, root drenching, foliar spray, and aerial application. This allows for flexible use according to disease characteristics at different tomato growth stages, offering convenience and time-saving benefits.

CHICO CROP Full-Cycle Integrated Disease Solution: Precise Strategy, Complete Protection

Based on disease characteristics at different growth stages of tomato, the CHICO team scientifically combines other chemical fungicides and biological from its portfolio, such as the ARPHAGOLD® soil conditioner, BIOCUT™, and BIOAMINO™, to form a full-cycle solution integrating prevention, treatment, and conditioning. This approach aims to achieve dual targets in both disease control and plant health.

    (1) Stage One: Seed Treatment Period (Pre-sowing)

ARPHAGOLD ( Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi )

    FIESTA PLUS (Fludioxonil 1.1% + Metalaxyl-M 1.7% + Thiamethoxam 22.2% FS )

    Objective

    Solution

    Recommended Application Method

Eliminate pathogens on and within seeds, reduce the risk of seedling diseases, and improve seed germination and seedling uniformity.

    CALIBUR® + FIESTA®

    +ARPHAGOLD®

Seed Treatment: Soak seeds in a solution of CALIBUR® + FIESTA®, then air-dry.
Seedbed Preparation: Mix ARPHAGOLD® with seedling substrate at a 1:10 ratio, then place in the seedbed.

    (2) Stage Two: Seedling Stage (Emergence to Pre-Transplanting) – Strengthen Roots and Seedlings, Control Soil-Borne Disease

BIOAMINOTM is a patented product rich in natural polypeptides, free amino acids, trace elements, and abundant natural biostimulants. It exhibits excellent disease-resistant properties and can increase crop yield and improve fruit quality.

    ROTOVOR® (Hymexazol 25% + Metalaxyl-M 5% SL)

    Objective

    Solution

    Recommended Application Method

Control soil-borne diseases, such as damping-off and Fusarium wilt, and improve transplant survival rate.

    CALIBUR® + BIOAMINO™ + ROTOVOR®

At the 2-3 true leaf stage, apply a diluted solution of CALIBUR (600×) + BIOAMINO (300×) via root drenching at 100 ml per plant. Repeat every 7-10 days for 2 consecutive applications. If minor disease symptoms appear, apply as a foliar spray immediately.

    (3) Stage Three: Transplanting to Flowering Stage – Comprehensive Protection for Simultaneous Control of Fungal and Bacterial Diseases

BIOCUT™ contains a variety of highly active extracellular enzymes and microbial secondary metabolites secreted by specially screened and cultivated strains of Bacillus. It interferes with the physiological metabolism of nematodes and rapidly dissolves nematode eggshells and body walls in the soil, leading to nematode death within a short period.

BIOEXTRA® contains the plant growth regulator brassinolide and unique JHME technology-complex extracted peptides and organic acid nutritional components. It has the dual function of regulating plant growth and supplying plant nutrients.

    CYFA ®(Famoxadone 22.5% + Cymoxanil 30% WDG), PYRACO® (Pyraclostrobin 25% SC)

    Objective

    Solution

    Recommended Application Method

Prevent early infections of diseases, such as leaf mold, late blight, Fusarium wilt, and canker, while promoting robust plant growth.

    BIOCUT™ + CALIBUR® + BIOEXTRA™+ CYFA® + PYRACO®

    (1) On the day of transplanting, apply BIOCUT at 1000× dilution via root drenching to control root-knot nematodes. Repeat every 20 days for 2-3 consecutive applications.

    (2) 5-7 days after transplanting/establishment, apply a diluted solution of CALIBUR® (600×) + BIOAMINO™ (300×) + CYFA® (500 g/hectare) + PYRACO® (1500×) for foliar spray. Apply with interval 10 days for 2-3 consecutive applications.

    Notes:

    • If viral disease control is needed, simultaneously add Oligosaccharins 2% AS and the insecticide DITO (Dinotefuran 10% + Tolfenpyrad 15% SC) for effective prevention and to block transmission.

    • Pyraclostrobin should be avoided during high temperatures to prevent leaf scorch.

    (4) Stage Four: Flowering & Fruit Setting to Peak Fruiting Stage – Precise Application for Control and Quality

COOSA is rich in nutritional elements including amino acids, nitrogen, potassium, and trace elements. It rapidly supplements plant nutrition and enhances fruit firmness and storage/transport tolerance.

KAPA (Kasugamycin 2% + Propamocarb Hydrochloride 28% AS) + SDHI Fungicides such as Boscalid

    Objective

    Solution

    Recommended Application Method

Control fruit-affecting diseases, such as gray mold, early blight, and bacterial wilt, while ensuring normal fruit development.

    CALIBUR® + COOSA® + KAPA® + SDHI Fungicide

    At the initial onset of disease, apply a diluted solution of CALIBUR® (600×) + COOSA® (500×) + KAPA® (800×) + an SDHI fungicide.

Apply with interval 10 days for 2-3 consecutive applications.
